Eschatology is “a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world or of humankind.” The Christian teaching of Eschatology sometimes pulls in a belief in the Rapture in which some believe the world will be destroyed, a literal reading of The Bible says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more” (Rev 21:1). This seems to in a literal sense state the world will be destroyed. I was in a Christian tradition in the past which has the framework of eschatology as you mentioned but I never come to know the name of it. The Left Behind Series also reinforce my acceptance of it. I understand there is a motivation inside me to do what is good in front of God to be worthy for a secret rapture to avoid future tribulation which is too scary and painful to be in. I chose to write about Matthew and John because they are the first and last of the Gospels. I am also the most interested in these two books since one is a synoptic Gospel and the other is not. The theme of love lies at the heart of the Fourth Gospel, pervading every aspect of the book. The Synoptic Gospels focus on the theme as well, but in John’s Gospel Jesus directs his disciples to love God and their neighbor, based on Deuteronomy 6:4–5 and Leviticus 19:18. In John’s Gospel, Jesus’s only command for his disciples is to love one another (15:12), and he assures the reader that God loves those who keep his commandments (14:21, 23). Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus expects us to be obedient, loyal, and willing to surrender our entire lives unto the Master. You cannot follow something you don’t believe in, and even Jesus had disciples leave him. We cannot go back and seek those who have left, but know that we are to be servants unto death. When Jesus was on earth, spreading the word of salvation, he chose twelve men to accompany him. We call theses men the twelve disciples. Each of the 12 disciples had a key part in the spreading of the gospel and the building of the church.
