Michael Pollan’s article “Escape from the Western Diet” has provided the knowledge on effects of consumption of western diets which is mostly a processed food and how to change a diet from processed food to wholesome food. In contrast, David Freedman’s article “How junk food can End Obesity” compares the nutrition level and healthiness of wholesome food and processed food and also discusses the obesity issues and how to tackle it through processed food.
According to pollan, the nutritionist or scientist published many theories on food which leads to chronic diseases, but such theories have not used to make a healthy diet, instead they have used by food industry and medical community to improve their profit margin. Pollan suggested that the

I believe that processed food refined the raw or farm fresh food into healthy food. Yogurt is one of the daily intakes food in the diet. Yogurt is the product made up of milk, but it contains probiotics which are not available in milk. Yogurt is a processed food which contains protein, calcium and numerous vitamins and minerals, also, due to addition of probiotics has enhanced the health factor in yogurt such as healthy digestive system and boost immune system. My grandfather is suffering from obesity and he was unable to control his weight gain. He is staying in village and used to eat wholesome food and follows all fresh farm diet. His weight has increased from 155 lbs to 265 lbs in 6 months. Such weight gain causes a serious health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. Doctor suggested to him to stop consuming high calorific foods which helps in reducing weight gain. But the Indian food are highly in fat and sugar and due to his old age, he was unable to adapt his diet plan according to doctor’s instruction because the food suggested by doctor has change his regular food flavor. He addresses his problem to doctor, then doctor has suggested him to try processed food such as low-fat yogurt, sugar free synthetic food products and juices which are low in fat and sugar but contains good number of vitamins. After consuming processed food for 3 months, he was able to reduce 66 lbs weight and this improves the health immune system. As a human being, we are more inclined towards stimulating our senses such as taste, smell. People starts consuming delicious food because it tastes good. The processed food helps the patient to improve his health without compromising the taste in the food.
