They also started to order art supplies since they took a hobby of painting that way ordering the supplies wouldn’t look suspicious. So this indicates that they used the supplies to hide their hole to their workshop and make tricks to fool the guards. They also used the supplies to create lifeboats and life preservers for when they were in the water. So this shows that the secret workshop was pretty useful in their escape. After the escape there were sightings and reporting of them that night (From article “Escape From Alcatraz’ Pg 9 p 2). A raft was soon discovered on nearby Angel Island. So this shows that the escapees did use their raft they made and left it their to probably show people they did escape. A car was also reported to be stolen. So this proves that they stole a car to hurry up a drive away without a trace so they wouldn’t be found and be put back in jail. So the reporting that night might of all have been pointing to Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers. The three inmates succeeded in their plan to escape the rock. They wanted to prove that the rock was not impossible to escape, they had a secret workshop, and there was reporting of them. The three inmates might of escaped Alcatraz or might of not it is just an unknown

Although there is evidence supporting that conclusion there is still no for sure explanation if they actually died or not. I think that they survived the escape because of their clever planning. They could of died but there is still no proof that they did. There is evidence that could help prove that they did survive.…

A prison is built to house persons for longer periods of time following conviction for a more serious offense. Since as early as back in the 1500s there have been imprisonment facilities. However, it was not until the year 1790 that the United States of America created its first prison in Pennsylvania which instituted solitary confinement for incarcerated convicts. The offenders that were sentenced to hard labor were moved indoors to an inner block of solitary cells in Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Jail. Most eighteenth century prisons were simply large holding pens.…

The first use of solitary confinement was in 1787. It was first used on a group of prisoners and it was believed if people were left alone in almost complete silence, they would feel repent for what they did. In the article, the author Dana Liebelson uses multiple real life examples to show how solitary confinement can have horrifying, long-lasting effects on people, especially children and young adults. Specifically the author uses the stories of a 17- year old named Kenny, and a 16- year old named Jonathan. Throughout the article you gain information that you may have never even considered to be possible, but the truth about this system is that it is extremely inhumane.…

There is a likely crime that society does not focus on and in turn they will fear. When I hear someone put into prisons I think to myself that there could be possibilities that inmate could jailbreak their way out. Is that not a possible high risk crime that society fears even if the stakes are low? If people want to prioritize their safety locking up an inmate cannot always make you feel safe. I remember a few years ago, there was a man named George Zimmerman, he claimed to have killed a young man almost my age at the time but a trial decided that is was self-defense.…
