Escalator Observation

Improved Essays
At approximately 12:49PM on Monday, August 7, 2018, I was headed down the escalator to the lower level curb side, when I noticed an individual snapping photos of what seemed to focus on the structure and one vehicle as well. The vehicle was a small, light grey, pickup truck. I immediately alerted the security officer beside me and proceeded with an attempt to interview the subject. He made it clear that he did not want to talk and continued up the escalator towards the TSA checkpoint. This was avoidance, a suspicious indicator. I then followed the individual from a distance so that I could keep an eye on which direction he was headed. I also snapped a few images on my cell phone at 12:50PM and 12:51PM to assist in my description of the individual

    1. Duchamp’s “Nude Descending a Staircase” is composed of various elements. Right off the bat, we’re able to notice actual lines in the painting, the rhythm shown as the figure descends and much more. These lines create form, depth and texture in the painting. The dark outlines regulate the contours of the body and work in such a way to highlight the motion lines of the figure.…

With today’s technology, there is a rift between technology and personal privacy. Currently, no precise federal law prohibits surveillance cameras, but there is a fear with common-law confidentiality rights, which frequently leads to an evaluation of a person's "reasonable expectation of privacy. " Expectation of privacy is not an issue when overt cameras are used. A person’s expectation of privacy is also not void when on public campuses, such as Grand Valley. Surveillance cameras in public locations such as sidewalks or parking lots are no problem because there is not an expectation of privacy in such areas.…

These two commercials teach us typical life skills inside and outside of school. These videos can apply to this year because if you give up on something that is so simple to solve you will fall behind, and it will be very hard to catch up. My idea about these commercials is that when something doesn’t go your way you keep on going, and don’t look back. The escalator commercial was telling us that when life gives you tough times don’t stop your life, move forward and try your best at everything. The marshmallow commercial can relate to school when you need integrity, especially while taking tests.…

He never stopped to wonder if anyone was behind him. My bright and completely theoretical idea was that he probably already knew I was following him, and didn’t care to question that fact. He was striking, in the sense that he stood out amongst those in a crowd of average tastes. He took on a sort of "punk-rock" look, with a badass leather jacket and half-calf lace up boots. His face had enough piercings and retro jewelry on it to smelt into a two liter can of diced pineapple, though actually, in retrospect, I don't think they make two liter cans of diced pineapple, nor do they make it out of various semi-precious metals.…

The social task of riding an elevator is one that I believe many of us take for granted. You might even say it is as simply as the elevator opens, you get on, hit your floor, and go about your day? However, from a sociological point of view, riding an elevator is far more involved than such a rudimentary set of actions. In fact, there is a plethora of social norms we (normally) choose to follow when riding elevators. One such norms is giving a quick a nod of the head or offering a quick hello (emphasis on quick) upon greeting our fellow elevator riders.…
