Eruption 1978: Las Vegas

The film I will be pitching is the sixth sequel to the classic made up disaster movie, Eruption (1971). This followup will be titled, Eruption 1978: Las Vegas (1979) and unfortunately it was pushed back due to budget restraints and problems on set (a drunk Joan Crawford wouldn’t leave her trailer due to her characters fate and accidentally burnt down half the set). The disaster and the location/time frame are all in the title, it literally treats all audience members like their dumbness (finally a movie title for me)! The film will be about the discovery of a new volcano that literally a few miles away from the city of Las Vegas. Female lead - A TV news reporter that falls in love with the tragic hero, she helps him get over his alcohol addiction and needs to get out of the city to save her kids. (Played by: Jamie Lee Curtis)
A Priest - A priest who has lost his faith and plans on gambling all his money away for the children of his orphanage (Played by: Bruce Dern)
Musician/Gambling Addict - A guitar wielding man who happens to work for the MGM Grand and is a gambling addict. (Played by: Kenny Rodgers)
Police Commissioner - Tough as nails ex-beat cop recently elected as Las Vegas Police Commissioner. He doesn’t trust the drunk hero and thinks he will lead the group astray, wants to do things his own way. (Played by: Ronny

The lava draws nearer to them as the priest races after the car with the boy in his hands, he safely gets the boy into the car and is slowly engulfed by the lava. The commissioner tries to drive away from the volcano, but the hero and heroine demand that they drive in the opposite direction to save her children that live near the Hoover Dam. After the group fights it’s decided that they will drive to the Hoover Dam to save the kids. After they save the children they realize that the the lava is closing in around them, which is when the hero comes up with the idea of busting the dam to put out the lava. They use some of the explosives the daredevil had with him and rig a bomb that will cause the dam to explode, as they try to get away the bomb doesn’t go off as planed. The hero jumps out of the car and manually sets off the explosives as the dam puts out the lava in the area. The rest of our heroes drive off to the nearest safe place, realizing the hero sacrificed himself for the
