According to the German government, Kristallnacht, or crystal night, came about because of an event that occurred in Paris on November 7, 1938. This event being the assassination of Ernst vom Rath, a German diplomat, by a young Polish Jew named Herschel Grynszpan. Herschel’s reasons for murdering Ernst vom Rath were that his parents had been among the thousands of Polish Jews forced out of Germany who were not allowed into Poland and that he wanted to bring worldwide attention to the terrible treatment of European Jews with his actions. His plan did not work out as he had hoped, however. His assassination of Ernst vom Rath actually worsened the treatment of Jews in Germany as it gave the German government an excuse to orchestrate Kristallnacht without having to take blame for it since the government could say that citizens actually caused Kristallnacht on their own out of outrage at the murder. …show more content…

The Triumph of the Will, a documentary from 1935 set in Germany, revolutionized cinema when Leni Riefenstahl captured and exalted the fearless Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler and his infamous Nazi party. The film uses powerful imagery of Hitler himself and adoring crowds to emphasize his deity like leadership and the people’s love for him. In a time of insane rule, Riefenstahl’s picture was the propaganda for the Nazis that pushed its ideals through techniques that gave them false hope for the future of Germany in a ruthless and fascist regime. I will endeavor to investigate what techniques such as mise en scène and sound Riefenstahl uses to capitalize on the pathos of the viewer to follow the Nazi regime and their cause. Nazi Germany in 1935 was under the influence of the authoritarian ruler Adolf Hitler.…

It all started simply with the Germans coming up with new laws and ways to limit the Jews to any freedom they had before. For example, telling the Jewish children they were no longer allowed to go to school and shutting down all Jewish businesses. When Adler first heard of the Nazis coming to Czechoslovakia to take the Jews away, he ran away to hide in the mountains. Soon later, he was walking around and found his father that had run away to hide from Hitler. This surprises me because in the book ‘Night’ all the jews there did not believe of this talk.…

Because of this, the Jews rights to life, as well as their freedom were taken away. Forbidding Jews from these acts became inhumane and cruel to their kind.
