“Everybody we meet has an influence on us and an impact - good or bad. And I think that's why we have to be careful with the way we handle people because what we're doing is making an impact.” – Ernie Harwell. This quote by Ernie Harwell stresses the importance of meeting others and how we must treat all others fairly, for every one will have an impact on us. I disagree with the quote however, that everyone you meet has an impact on you. We can have an impact on people also, but this is limited. This is why I would qualify this quote with limitations.
The quote also supports my writing on my 9th grade science teacher, Ms. Jane. Ms. Jane was my 9th grade science teacher in Canada. Coming into high school I wasn't very nervous …show more content…
Jane was probably like this because she could not have taught a class so fast and be boring at the same time, for all of the class would fail out. She was actually very proud the first time I came to her outside of class and asked for help on a particular subject, and she was right to do so. For on a test, which I would have probably failed on my own, I was the only one to receive 100 on. After that, I soon learned that I was to move to Louisville around mid-december, and was sad that I had to go, for that year I knew I had some of the best teachers I have ever had, including Ms. Jane, my 9th grade science teacher, who taught me how to stay on task and manage my time.
So as you can see, this short story supported the quote in saying that everyone has an impact on you, but is this always the case? I believe that it is not, and here is why.
First of all, saying that everyone we meet has an influence on us is not true. There are many cases in which you will meet someone and not have any affect on you life. For instance, if you go through a food drive through, and you meet the man or woman working the drive through, you won’t be impacted (assuming that said person doesn’t spill a drink on you.) Another example is that if you meet someone at a party who you don’t end up talking to again, did he really affect you? I would say no. I am not saying that nobody will have an effect on you, as a majority of the people will affect you, however, not everyone will affect
