Ermias Asghedom is a successful American rapper and entrepreneur that goes by the name of Nipsey Hussle. “Entrepreneurship is having the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit.” (Business Dictionary) Born and raised near the intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson in South Los Angeles, Nipsey Hussle grew up around drug dealers, drug addicts, and criminals. Eventually to join the Rollin 60’s Neighborhood Crips gang at a young age. Nipsey Hussle is currently 30 years old and still has an active rap career and a few successful startup companies under his belt.

Due to his rise in fame for his musical skills and bad record deals, Nipsey Hussle wanted to create a business model that allows him to make more money being independent. There are a lot of independent artist around the world, but Nipsey Hussle reached out to others and read books over business to create a plan that would work for him. Reaching out to Ryan Leslie who created the app “Disruptive Multimedia” and reading Jonah Berger’s book “Contagious” he learned about how things go viral. By combing these two, the app allows Nipsey Hussle to see information about every customer such as: their name, age, Twitter account, what city they live in, and how much has that customer has spent on his products. With this database of his customers, Nipsey Hussle can now tour to specific cities where he will bring in more money from his ticket sales, and open up pop-up shops in specific cities that has spent the most money on his clothing. Jonah Berger wrote the book “Contagious”, Ryan Leslie developed the app “Disruptive Multimedia”, and Nipsey Hussle used his large fan base to sell his products and services to. He sold drugs to raise the capital needed to buy his own equipment for his studio, to support his lifestyle, and his dependents that relied on him. “Bootstrapping is one of most effective and inexpensive ways to ensure a business ' positive cash flow. Bootstrapping means less money has to be borrowed and interest costs are reduced.” (Entrepreneur) He could have easily quit and became a drug addict, but he saw more to life than that. Nipsey Hussle parents grew up poor therefore, he did not receive a trust fund nor did he parents have money to spare him whenever he asked. Nipsey Hussle is the true definition of an entrepreneur. His parents were not musically talented, so he was not blessed with musical skills from the start. He really did everything by himself from the very beginning by selling drugs to pay for a studio, basic necessities, teaching himself how to use his studio equipment, going outside and market himself to the city of Los Angeles, to networking with local DJ’s to play his records that he made from his house. “Networking is a socioeconomic business activity by which businesspeople and entrepreneurs meet to form business relationships and to recognize, create, or act upon business opportunities, share information and seek potential partners for ventures.” (Österle, Fleisch, Alt, 2001) In addition to creating his business he had to repeat the whole process
