Erin Gruwell: Intellectual View Of The Classroom

I had an intellectual insight when I learned about the unique and different ways notable teachers taught their students. Out of all the teachers I learned about, the teacher that impacted my way of thinking the most was Erin Gruwell. Gruwell taught low-performing students and helped them graduate high school, when everyone else said they could not. When I learned about Erin Gruwell, the entire reason I wanted to be a teacher changed. At first, I wanted to teach my students to work hard, get good grades, and finish college. Then, I realized that teaching is not just about teaching students what will get them into college or what will get them their dream job. To continue, an experience that one might consider beautiful would be helping others, such as volunteering in a soup kitchen. Some people get so much joy out of helping others that they continue to volunteer numerous times. I would consider the experience of helping others beautiful because a person can truly make the lives of people better just by helping them. Also, the receivers of the help are not the only people benefiting, the volunteers are also benefiting in more ways than they realize. Some of the people who visit a soup kitchen have great advice that can help the volunteers. Additionally, volunteers get a chance to take their mind off of their own problems, and appreciate the life they were given more. When people see the positive impact of helping others, it warms their hearts and makes them feel like they have made the world a little better.
