Erin Brockovich was successful in her lawsuit against the people of Hinkley verses Pacific Gas and Electric also known as PG and E. Between the years of 1952 to 1966 an outbreak of Chromium 6 was polluting the water in Hinkley. However, the people of Hinkley were unaware of what harm could be done by this substance. Many families and individuals who lived close to the company that produced the Chromium 6 had been experiencing illnesses that where caused by the chemical they had been consuming. The people of Hinkley did not know how they were getting sick, they thought it was just happening but, the chromium 6 was causing majority if not all the illnesses such as liver failure, chronic nose bleeds, heart failure, cancer, reproductive failure

When doing this she noticed a medical record attached to one of the cases which started to gain her interest causing her to search deeper into the case. In order for her to build a constructive case to present to her boss she needed evidence. The first thing Erin did was take samples of the water as well as the dead frog in the water. She did this in Hinkley near the PG and E company to see if there where high levels of chromium 6. Later she encountered a married couple that had seen defects in their chicken offspring, the chickens’ legs where crippled, they could not walk, and their bodies were filled with tumors then they eventually died. After doing research she found information on the acceptable chromium 6 level which was 0.5, but Hinkley levels where 0.58 which was way over the limit. In order for the people of Hinkley to know what was going on in their town she went door to door talking about the research she had done and what the actual reasons for their illnesses where. Later on she held a community Bar-BQ gathering majority of the people to come together where she handed out pan flits containing information on the Chromium 6 poisoning caused by the Pacific Gas and Electric
