Erikson’s eight stages of human development reflect the current human development of people. From infancy to death each stage explains the common actions and development of individuals. Erikson highlights the roles of culture, societal influences and struggles that occur. I believe all of the stages in Erikson’s theory are important to human development especially understanding the earlier stages. Not only did Erikson outline the development each stage creates, but also the negative aspects that could affect a person’s development. Development begins early, way before a person is able to speak their first words. By understanding the events that effect that development we are able to clearly understand why it is important for children to have stable parents. When a person is struggling and having behavior problems such as bullying other students we are able to use the stages of this theory to determine where the lack of development took place. Encouragement is a way to increase healthy development. If a person does not receive encouragement and support from home it is important that they find some such as a teacher, counselor or mentor that will provide them with the support they are
