In the field of psychology, there have been many different areas of interest. One of the most popular areas of study for psychology would be human development. Among some of the best Freud, Erikson and Piaget were all great theorists with diverse ideas regarding the human development. Respectively, each theorist developed their own ideas and stages for human development. Their theories on human development had us passing through different stages during different times of our lives. Each theory fluctuated on what these stages were; these theories also fluctuated with their respect towards paradigmatic assumptions, learning and development, and relationship towards educational practice. Jean Piaget was a Swiss developmental psychologist that had his own theory of cognitive development. It was his idea that development was progressive over time. An individual would be influenced by aging in combination with experiences they have had in life. Piaget believed that people developed in four stages over time. The first stage Piaget describe included children from birth to around the age of two when the child begins to speak. This stage is known as the sensorimotor stage. During this phase Piaget believe that children learned from a combination of senses, such as, hearing and touch.
