Throughout the movie, Erika exhibits voyeuristic characteristics as when she spies on Walter and when she goes to the Drive-In. Watching others have sex in their car, while they, in turn, are watching actors on the screen. In doing this, she finds the "Transmission of power...pleasure of their exercise...in the gaze of those involved in the act of surveillance, the pleasure of the surveillance of pleasure. (Foucault 186)." She urinates like an upset child in response to their actions and when caught by the male counterpart runs away while he chases her yelling obscenities. Each scene appears to build on the premise of the female entering the patriarchal system, causing chaos as well as Erika’s views on sexual relations between men and women.
