I wish to recommend Erica Johnson as a nominee for this year Mary Louise Human Rights Award, as she is a passionate leader, change agent and role model in our community.
I have known Erica since I met her during a DACA legal clinic in 2013. Before meeting Erica, I had never thought of myself as an advocate, let alone as a leader in my community. Erica saw something in me that no one else had. She introduced me to the fight for human and civil rights of the undocumented community, thought me everything she knew and supported me along the way.
