Summary
The main objective of this paper was in my opinion to bring light to the need for and purpose of ergonomic/ human factor activities, raising awareness of human factor benefits and integration of ergonomics work in the product development process. The paper explained ergonomic activities in the product development process, with special emphases on the purpose of these ergonomic activities on the various parts of the process. The paper did conclude that there is increasing opportunity to raise the awareness for human factor benefits and integration of ergonomics into the development work which will lead to the involvement of more competences and better utilization of user and user-centered decision support.
Contributions and originality
The author of this paper did justice in explaining, the outlying concepts of product development and how important human factor is to the entire workflow. also, I deduced that the main contribution of this paper is to show extensively how important human factors professional can contribute in each of the entire product development phases as illustrated in the activity centered design (ACD) framework. In my honest opinion, the contributions of the paper were original, various citations were provided, the authors did a very good job to expatiate on how the main idea will contribute to the advancement of a more efficient product development
