Erasers By Warren Bennis: Summary

Warren Bennis once said, “Leadership is the capacity to translate visions into reality”. This mean to make your dreams into reality the key component is leadership. A great book that represents this is maximum ride. This book is about a 14 year old girl named max. Ever since jeb left her and her family. Well they weren't family genetically but they acted as a family because they had no family. At the start of the book max and the others had been attacked by eraser. Erasers are human werewolf that were made in the school which is a lab that max and her family were originally from. Max and her family are bird hybrids. They look like humans just with wings. They had gotten out because jeb had kidnapped them out. Now that's just the start of this …show more content…
With that angel was max’s favorite there was no doubt that they were going to bring back angel if it killed max. After a long trip they had gotten to the lab but got caught by the eraser’s. Max and her family eventually escaped and the rest is to be told later. The theme that i had choose for maximum ride is, ”the key for being a leader is taking responsibility and learning to be a leader more as you go.” this mean that the first thing to being a leader is to take responsibility. The second thing is to know that you might not know everything it takes to be a leader but to learn as you go to become a leader. The 3 most important component in this book that i had found shown leadership. First make a decision of what you are going to do. Second have a escape plan or alternative route if everything goes wrong. Third, if they no escape remember to protect your allies because if you don't you will regret it for the rest of your …show more content…
Max and her family get attack day to day by eraser and have to escape dangerous situation. But there are two things she did protect her family from danger to her best ability. Max aswell planned ahead when she choose her team for who’s going out to the lab to save angel. Max had initially chosen gazzy and iggy had to stay home. The main reason for gazzy was because angel was gazzy sister so that means that they could of been looking for gazzy too, and if gazzy went with them it’s like bringing the bait to the lab. Max know for a fact that the erasers are stronger than them.

Maximum ride series shows the key component of taking responsibility as a leader. Throughout these examples i have shown how max has show responsibility as a leader. The three example show the following three. First decide now about what you are going to do. Second if it doesn't work have a alternative plan. Third if everything goes wrong make sure to protect your allie for if you don't, you will regret it. The reason that this matter is without leader we would have no people to teach

In order to be an exemplary leader the authors, Kouzes and Posner, (2012), describe five practices that need to be implemented. Each practice defines leadership and what a leader should strive to perfect in being successful. To model the way shares the same concept of practicing what you preach, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). If you want your subordinates to have a strong work ethic a leader must practice the same, by setting the example in order for others to follow, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). True leadership is represented by standing up for the greater good of a group without selfishness and ignorance towards others. The story The Lord of The Flies by William Golding demonstrates a constant struggle for power and leadership between Jack, Piggy, and Ralph. The malicious actions that result draw out specific aspects of leadership from each boy. Apart from Jack and his aggressive attitude toward others or Piggy with the lack of respect he receives from the others, Ralph 's rational thinking is the trait, that as a leader, trumps the others and clearly shows how his endless efforts for the greater good of the boys make him the distinct leader.…

The leading of a team or group is not a simple task but involves real life skills that take time, thinking and commitment. The role of leadership is an essential aspect of an organization since it can determine the difference between success and failure. “Although leaders are gifted in different ways, with different personalities and varying skill sets, all leaders can grow, become more skillful, and become more competent so that they can achieve greater effectiveness” (Ledlow & Coppola, 2014, pp. 10). At times, leadership may seem overwhelming and complicated, but by concentrating on specific fundamentals they will find that they can guide the team with the assurance and competence. Max would have been the last person Riley thought she could count on, but he proves her entirely wrong. The only people they could to rely on was each other, so they try to work through it together. Throughout the situation, they would comfort each other when one has a mental break down, they would protect each other from attacks from the masked men, try to hide each other from the masked men, and stand by each other, and act as each other’s rocks through thick and thin. Riley and Max would also try to use humor as way to lessen the horrors of the situation.…

Introduction As I reflect on this course and the results of the Questionnaires, Reflection, and Action Worksheets I have learned many aspects of leadership. I have analyzed the definition of leadership and now have a clearer understanding of it. According to, Introduction to Leadership; concepts and practice, by Peter Northouse (2015), leadership can be composed of many variables such as relationship, trait, ability, skill, behavior, and influence process. He also elaborates on how the “leadership of an individual can be used to influence a group to accomplish a common goal”. In addition, he discusses how leadership is not the same as management (Northouse, 2015, pp. 3-7).…

Leaders have to be able to create a vision and lead their team in achieving that vision. Our activity was to create a plan to solve unsafe working conditions in third-world countries. Our team consisted of two students from UT-Austin and one international student from Mexico. Through this exercise, I learned leaders need to know when to adjust their message to their target audience. As I was expressing my ideas to the team, I was rushing through my speaking and ignoring the needs of my team members.…
