Most news networks these days use biased reports to entertain a certain audience. Often, different news stations will show the same reports but with a different bias “twist”. For example, a report on the solider Bowe Burgdahl was showed by CNN and Fox new. Bowe Burgdahl is a solider that left his post and got captured by Taliban soldiers. The decolonization and road to independence of African countries was prominent occurence from the 1940s onwards. Key factors in the process towards independence were aspects such as the drafting of the atlantic charter which stressed the importance of self- determination, as well as the rise of an educated group of leaders by the likes of Leopold Senghor and Robert Mugabe who were inspired by Pan African ideals and Marxism. The two leaders played different roles of significance within their movements as they both adopted different strategies and approaches to aid their movements. Robert Mugabe first arrived on the political scene as a teacher in South Rhodesia where he wa was known for chairing the first 1960 National Democratic Party congress (NDP). Through the inspiration of Ghana's liberation movement and marxist ideology ,Mugabe took on the belief that conflict was necessary to overthrow the white minority rule as he began to inject the idea of adding emotionalism to African Nationalism as the NDP’s publicity secretary.…

News stories are biased because of how they are interpreted by people and what the media chooses to include or not include in their stories. This makes it biased. We all receive information and think about things differently. It’s not the news that presents the events differently, it is the individual and their understanding of the past and present that forms their opinion about the events presented. Therefore, bias in the news will always be there because we all view and interpret information our own way and the information presented or left out of the news stories can influence our opinions.…

The portrayal of current events in the media wields a formidable power over the opinions of its viewers. By watching or reading the news, the recipients are formulating their own judgements on the content based off of the supposedly objective information given. However, if the media chose to broadcast false or biased news, it could affect the mindsets of the entire nation and rally support for a private agenda while misusing freedom of the press to spread lies. The media also has the power to choose which stories to broadcast and some important events are not relayed to the public at all because of personal opinions and agendas. Representation in the media is flawed because of the bias in which the news portrays people, events, and organizations.…

The more journalists attempt to achieve objectivity the more they lead to bias as to back up their theories or stories they invite ‘experts’ who are industry and political sources or members of elite groups. The postmodern media is of no value as all judgements are based to reach a certain audience. As we live in an age of propaganda, all stories demand for objectivity but leads to bias as the need for source credibility to establish an ‘objective view.’ It is also said to reflect modern society and representations of things like religion, sex, class. An example of this is the Islamophobia representation in the media with major news themes all start with…
