Imagine living in a world where everyone has to live under strict rules and have our future and life be chosen for us. In Anthem, written by Ayn Rand, is a dystopia of a future “Dark Age” that might happen if we worshipped the word “We” and collectivism. Through the end of the book, Equality discovers a god, Prometheus, and feels a connection towards him because of many things; the most important are, his gifts to mankind, his actions, and his outcomes.

For instance, Prometheus gave and did many things for humanity. First, he took fire from Mount Olympus and gave the ability to man, yet he still committed a transgression of stealing to help them just like what Equality did to when he stole manuscripts from the Home of the Clerks (36). Second of all, Prometheus’ actions also affected his outcomes and plans. In the beginning, Prometheus tricked Zeus into giving him the fire without any problems, but at the end Zeus took away fire from humans eternally. In similar fashion, like Equality, Prometheus was different than any god and that showed through when he sided the Olympians in the Trojan War, to help humankind. Nonetheless, Prometheus’ outcomes were similar to those of Equality’s in many ways. Undoubtedly, Prometheus avoided being punished for siding with the enemy in the Trojan War, but after that he was caught stealing fire from the gods and was chained to a rock and got his liver eaten until he was freed, similar to what happened to Equality when he was punished for his transgression but then escaped (66). After all, Prometheus did all those actions and suffered hard consequences because he wanted what was best for mankind and it’s
