“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self evident; that all men are created equal.” In the words of Martin Luther King Jr. he believed that one day everyone would be treated equal, and that discrimination wouldn’t be based off of color but by the way that people act. Dr. King thought that one day all men would be created equally and be able to live without discrimination. “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!” Also per Dr. Martin Luther, America was finally free from segregation of the black and white citizens. If racial equality can be achieved in the 1960’s, that means that there is a high possibility that everyone will be able to have equality in today’s society. According to the first Amendment of the Constitution, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” People who say that equality cannot be achieved, based off of the Constitution, possibly think that the Amendment can easily be abused. People can abuse the First Amendments’ rights, by thinking that the term, “freedom of speech” means that they can say anything that they want, and to whoever they want, without worrying if the speech will hurt another; threatening or anyway of abusing another person.Another Amendment that can be abused by the American people is the Second Amendment, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Citizens can abuse this Amendment because they think that having a weapon, means that they can do anything they want with it. Most people who think about this think that instead of self defense, violence can be used and inflicted on others.
