Equality, as defined by Google, is the state of being equal, especially in status, rights,

and opportunities. I define equality as having the same opportunities everyone els has; with

with the same amount of effort given. However, I feel that, in America everyone has the same oppurtunity, but not with the same effort applied. I am basing my opinon on the aspects of race, gender, social background, and etc. America, has come a long way from the way equality use to be portrayed. Nevertheless, I feel there will never be complete equality in our country. I believe minority races will still have to put forth more effort than majority races, women will have to put forth more effort than men, and the poor more effort than the rich. The 14th Amendment speaks of equality, however, in my opinion, it is just words written on paper. It is the choice of people to choose equality over inequality. With

I have given my meaning of equality. However, equality could be interpreted differently to others. Equality was a big issue, during the time the 14th Amendment was put in place. It was brought into play shortly after the Civil War. It was, in my opinion, just a flicker in the flame of equality. However, it did set the course towards the way we live in America now. Sometimes, I still wander would we have made this much progress without the 14th Amendment being ratified.

In the book Anthem Equality’s primary motivation for conducting his experiments was to show that he was capable and intelligent enough to be a scholar. Equality is very intelligent and he knows he can help out his brothers and their world in many ways by the things he learned in the tunnel. I also think he is very biased and tired of the world he lives in when he was growing up and the world he lives in today. He is right to be motivated this way because it is normal for human beings to want to prove themselves and show that they are capable to do something that they believe they are worthy for.…

These works both define equality in the same way. Every citizen should have the same rights regardless of race, sexuality, and talents. “Harrison Bergeron” uses government implemented “handicaps” to accomplish this goal while the 14th amendment simply uses the law to provide the same rights for every citizen. The government becomes the driving force behind both of these literary works in regards to enforcing the equality. While they have the right idea that all citizens should be equal, they both have flaws in their foundation.…

“A riot is the language of the unheard”. This powerful statement was said by the late Martin Luther King Jr., and with the amount of inequality that has been seen in all areas of life (gender, racial, etc.) paired with the lack of response, it is easy to see how upping one’s protesting tactics to a level of aggressiveness can be beneficial for a movement. However, when one tends to perform nonviolent acts of noncooperation, and gather the attention of many for their movement peacefully, they tend to generate more support: therefore, it is increasingly favorable for a movement to exercise diplomacy rather than aggression. To start things off, equality is a characteristic that should be woven throughout every aspect of our lives without question.…
