Born This Way (or Creative Title) In our current society, people have their own thoughts, and they act upon their own decisions. Equality 7-2521, who is now Prometheus, lives in a society where all individuality is banned. Citizens of their society have no opinions of their own, and the Councils determine everything. The leaders had absolute control over their people, but it is not because they had guns and weapons to tame them. The Councils were able to keep their people unknowledgeable about freedom over their own thoughts. People of this society are born into pure submission. Children are taken away from their parents at birth and are sent to the Home of Infants. At the age of five, they are sent to the Home of the Students. There, children learn for ten years until they are assigned a job. Equality 7-2521 is gifted with intelligence, but that is considered evil among his people. Being smarter than other Brothers is forbidden, and Equality 7-2521 attempts to forget and not understand what the Teachers are saying to fit in. Before the children goes to bed, they recite a prayer that reminds them of the importance of their Brothers: “‘We are nothing. Mankind is all. When people turn fifteen years old, the Council of Vocation decides what their job is for the rest of their lives. At their jobs, they are trained to perform specific tasks with various rules and policies. Street Sweepers live with Street Sweepers, and Leaders live with Leaders. Each individual of this society is exposed only to those they work with. When Equality 7-2521 shows up at the meeting of World Council of Scholars, Scholars are shocked and furious at the fact that a Street Sweeper was in their assembly.
