It is believed that women are inferior to men in society because they aren’t as “educated”. However, the evidence contradicts this statement because "37 percent of women have advanced college degrees opposed to the 32.5 percent of men” (Schow). Statistics corroborate the claim that women do not earn less because they are not as educated but instead because of discrimination itself. The lower paying jobs are said to have more flex time for women to take maternity leave however, a Cornell study showed that “when women enter fields in greater numbers, the pay declines”(Miller).The jobs with declining pay are those of which men used to hold. In the work field, the gender bias is very relevant especially when women start doing a job “It just doesn’t look like it’s as important to the bottom line or requires as much skill”(Miller).
