Introduction
Is it really right that women are not paid equally to men? Women should be entitled to proper pay for equal work they do. In “2014 the typical woman working full time all year in the U.S. earned 79% of what the typical man earned working full time all year” (Grimshaw, 2014). “Women make up nearly ½ of the U.S. Labor force and there are a growing number of bread winners within their families” (Soyars, 2014). More women are also working positions and fields that have been traditionally occupied by men. When women are not paid fairly they suffer, but so do their families. “The Equal Pay Act (EPA) of 1963 is a federal law which prohibits pay discrimination on the basis of gender. There are laws that regulate to protect the pay quality for women are completely unfair to men. The bureaus of labor statistics put women working fulltime in the U.S. about 77 cents for every dollar men earn (Black, 2015). So, if you think about it are the politicians creating an illusion that makes women think that they really are getting paid the same as men? There are also people who feel that equal pay is about women’s behavior and the choices that she makes. I think that this issue can be debated by the size of this reoccurring issue however it is real and does exist. Some republican senators have voted against the policy for equal pay for equal work. This is based on because they are in fear that they would have to pay more to employees, which would take more money out of the employer’s own pocket and increase the cost of running a business for a period of time. Making it less profitable for business
