Like many other social problems, Gender Equality happens across the board in American society. This is issue is known to have a negative impact in America. Gender equality is “achieved when women and men enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviours, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favoured” (Gender Equality: What is Gender Equality?). Gender equality is almost ubiquitous in the way that is exists, and can be seen in many aspects of life. Some acts or differences may be subtle, while others may be more pronounced. It is clear that women cannot do everything that men can do. Many times on the same jobs, men and women are not assigned to do the same things. But it is safe to say that when a woman is asked if they can do a certain thing they will let you know if they can or cannot do what is asked. You cannot categorize gender. A pro for gender equality would be equal rights made for all. Everyone deserves to equal. By making rights for all, one gender cannot be favored by anyone. discrimination against someone’s gender will no longer be a problem. Dr. Margaret Chan Stated, “We will not see sustainable progress unless we fix failures in health systems and society so that girls and women enjoy equal access to health information and services, education, employment and political positions” (Shah 2010). Everyone will have the same benefits at work, school and at home. While there are pros there are also cons to gender equality. A con for gender equality would be a problem with the language used. Unequal treatment for women should be kept in the past. We are now in the present and are far more advanced and should be thinking how how man and women should be treated. Skeptic theories define gender inequality as an issue of how men and women are tied to the economic structure of society. Society considers that women are supposed to have the role as a mother and wife and are devalued by society. They also believe that women are opposed to access to exceptionally admired public opportunities. Gender stratification introduces the ranking of sexes in a way that differ in power, assets, reputation and work for women. Skeptic theories demonstrates that gender stratification is expanded where work for women is devoted to the family and work for men is devoted to trade and the marketplace. An old statement that implements gender inequality is “This is a man’s world.” Despite how much someone disagrees with this statement; it will always be true. Women have and always will be a stride trailing men as a result of society, not accepting that women are just as competent as men. Shah (2010) states “Gender equality furthers the cause of child survival and development for all of society, so the importance of women’s rights and gender equality should not be underestimated.” By establishing an equal level for men and women, the value of women will increase as well
