Jonas set his head in the soft snow knowing how easy it would be to just give up. He looked at the grey sky. He was cold, tired, sore, hungry and felt like he had lost so much. The light sound of Gabriel's cry echoed in the vastness. Just as Jonas was about to close his eyes he felt one last memory. A memory of hope. He kept this one for himself not transmitting it to Gabriel. He felt less hungry, less tired, less sore and ready to walk as far as he could to save Gabriel. The memory lingered longer than most of the memories he had before. Jonas got up and hugged the newchild just to keep him alive long enough. He trudged forward through the snow. There was a cream colored table and dark oak chairs. The rug was red and velvety. The fireplace was roaring and Jonas’s muscles relaxed. The warmth caressed him and Gabriel stirred and let out a abnormal groan. Jonas knew he could save them. He went over to the table and saw a single plate of food. Jonas sat in one of the seats. He took a bite of the mysterious food. He felt his hunger slowly subside as he ate. He took Gabriel and fed him, and slowly he stirred a little more. Jonas set Gabe down on a black couch in the back of the house, and laid down next to him. Jonas put a blanket over them as they fell asleep. Jonas awoke the next day bewildered at what was happening. He fell off the couch unable to stand because of his condition. The fire was out and Gabriel was sleeping on the couch. Jonas dragged himself over to the window. The pain was settling in and it hurt more than the memory’s ever did.He lifted himself up and looked out. He saw a man in a pilot outfit, many elders, and a girl about the same age as Jonas.
