“I'm going to put beeswax in your ears,” I fretfully said. “Why would you put beeswax in our ears, what will that help, Odysseus?” Tom asked concernedly. “You won't be able to hear the sirens, so therefore you won't be coaxed by their voices to jump over. It will keep you on the ship,” I answered. “Well what are you going to do if you aren't going to put wax in your ears?” “I have no other choice but to either stand here, or go to the captain's quarters. My safest choice is the captain’s quarters, so I guess I'm going there.” After I put the wax in my companion’s ears, I walked into the captain's quarters, fretfully awaiting the sound of the sirens. I started walking to the edge to see what the noise was, but as I started to walk, Tom stopped rowing and ran towards me holding me back, stopping me from going overboard. He pushed me so hard I flew back at least ten miles. “Tom what are you doing? Can't you hear that beautiful noise?” He just looked at me and gave no response and took me back to captain's quarters and blocked the door from outside, that way it was impossible to get through the door. I tried with all my might. I pushed the door as if there was a monstrous being behind me chasing me. After a while, the sound went away and I was sad. For I wanted to know what the beautiful noise was. Just as I was thinking to myself, Tom came running down to get me. He busted open the door asking if I was crazy. “What are you talking about Tom? Didn't you hear the beautiful noise? I must know what it was!” I cried out. “It was the sirens, you almost went overboard, I just saved your life!” he yelled. “Oh my. I am so sorry Tom. Thank you so much. You saved my life and for that, I'm forever grateful to you. I owe my all to you. If there's anything you ever need, I'm here. My life is forever in your debt.” I said while shaking his
