“Run off to one. I’ll come find you in a couple of days, and we can find another place to work. We might even be able to buy our ranch one day.” He threw in that last part because he knew it would make Lennie happy. Lennie did smile when the ranch was mentioned but it brought up the memory of the big bunny he had seen just minutes ago. That was when he realized that it would never happened. The land they wanted was just a dream everyone in America had too. They would never actually get to it. So Lennie made his decision. George turned around to see if he could hear any of the guys coming after them. As he did this, Lennie pulled the Luger out of his pocket and slowly raised it to the side of his head.
