The passing of Lennie was way too overwhelming for George. Therefore he just laid in the bunkhouse all day with a shocked look on his face. It was also very pale as if it was the white bed sheet covering his face, likewise his eyes were the size of golf balls staring at the ceiling of the Bunkhouse. Slim walks in, “ George you ready to grab a drink?” he says calmly. “I... I... I... think so.” George says with his face starting to gain color. After that they fetch a horse along with a buggy and ride off into a bar in Soledad. Along the way they meet up with a guy walking along the road. He looked like a guy that has not had a very acceptable life. All of his clothes had holes in them with long strands of cloth hanging down from the holes. …show more content…
We just lost an exceptional worker, and I’m sure I could chalk up a job for ya.” Slim said. “ That would be the greatest thing ever, I would love that.” Brad said gratefully. The three men rolled into the parking lot of the bar. The smell of alcohol and deep fried oil clogged their noses. From this point the sun was finally down, however it didn’t seem like it. There was a full moon that brightens the sky like a disco ball in a party room. The wind had died down and all you could see was light poles following the streets. “Thanks for the lift, preciate it.” Brad said thankfully handing Slim five bucks. “ No no, no need for that. I dint have to go out of my way or notin. Keep it.” “ Thanks… What's ur guys's names anyway?” “ I'm Slim and that’s George, he’s not feelin the best.” “ Thanks again Slim for the ride.” Brad said. The three men walk into the bar and the scent picked up way stronger to the point where it hits them like a brick wall. It’s a small bar with a few tables set up for dining and a two handfuls of bar stools along the bar. Brad heads straight to the bathroom while Slim and George take a seat at one of the …show more content…
“I’ll take a…. Surprise me.” George says. Slim goes up to acquire the beers and meets somebody. While he is talking George lays back in his seat and dozes off. In his dream a man comes up to him and starts speaking, he realizes it’s Lennie. “ Why’d ya kill me George? Why? I dint want no trouble, I jus wanted to tend the rabbits, “ Lennie mumbled in George’s dream. “I didn’t want to do it Lennie! I swear I didn’t want to kill you. I jus didn't have no choice! George whispered, denying his part in Lennie's death. Lennie just looked at George sadly and said, “ There’s always a choice, George.” George sat straight up on his chair, panting , sweat running a thick trail down his face. As George wakes up Slim comes back to the table. “ You ok George? You was mumbling in your sleep.” “ Yea, no problems here,” George muttered under his breath. Slim obviously heard him as he frowned and a worried look crossed his face. “ George you sure? “ Slim asked with a worried face. “ It’s about Lennie. Im second guessing myself on killing him, it’s just honestly hitting me
