She always started with running because the cold air wakes her up. Around 4:30 A.M. She was almost at her house, but then she tripped on a rock and landed on her knee. One of her neighbors heard her crying outside. He asked her “ what’s wrong Brandie are you ok?’’ Brandie said “ No I’m not I think I dislocated my knee.” She started sobbing. Her neighbor called 9-1-1. When she got back home a week later all she could do was lay down and rest. The doctor said “ No active things, no getting up at all if you want your knee to heal faster.” Two days later she felt like it kind of healed so on Saturday around lunch time she got a random call, but she didn’t understand anything that person said so she hung up. A minute later she got another call and it never had caller id so she took a while to answer. She asked “ Who is this?” “Hello this is your mom.” She was thinking to herself why does it not have caller id, but whatever. Her mom asked her if she could get something on the top of the shelf. When she helped her get down a jar of sauce, it felt like her leg has gotten better so she said “ Maybe whenever I help someone out my leg gets healed”. One day Brandie was walking home she jumped over the bushes to get to school, it felt liked it healed. When she got out of the school she went to her route she always takes after school. The character of candy is important on the grounds that he is accustomed to depicting the subject of dreams. He is effectively interested by the dream and quickly offers his money .This shows how dreams were infectious in 1930s America as dreams were the main things that farm laborers could hold on to and look forward to . This is a significant subject and is depicted all through the novel and maybe demonstrates Steinbeck's perspectives on dreams and their need in a period of forlornness and sadness as he had experience of the farm workers lives. All through the novel, Steinbeck uses Candy and his canine to depict an impactful message about friendship and the acknowledgment of old and incapacitated individuals in the society…

It all had started when we went to the bar after the incident with Lennie, George was semi drunk but he told us the story of how George and Lennie came to us. “It all started when we were on the road and the bus driver left us behind,” he said as I listened in. “We were walking on the road and the sun was setting, we stopped up for camp,” George said as I thought about George’s unstable emotions. What I thought was that if Lennie was with George all those years, even when they were young children, did George ever think of this kind of reckless and sad future? “Lennie stupidly dipped his fingers into some strange lake, luckily it was running,” George said laughing.…

Stienkbeck uses foreshadowing to show what happens to Lennie in the end of the novel in many different ways. The first reason how Steinbeck foreshadows Lennie's death is when George tells Lennie to stay away from Curley's wife. George tells Lennie this because he does not want him to get into trouble with her which he does later in the novel. The second reason how Steinbeck foreshadows Lennie's death is when Carlson is telling Candy how he should shoot his dog. He tells him where to shoot his dog so hat he will not fell a thing.…

As a reader, I enjoy Steinbeck’s use of the intercalary chapter approach. By using the intercalary chapters, Steinbeck is able to create a sense of the time frame and the struggles that people went through. He does this without using the Joad family, which creates the sense that the problems of the era were spanning across the country and not just between a few individual families. Steinbeck likes to give the “whole side of the story” and not just the perspective of the poor migrant families. When he speaks through the Joad family he makes the reader pity those who were kicked off their land and forced to find new means of survival in California.…

Authors use symbolism in order to expand their themes and characters. In the best works of fiction, themes reveal the basic ideas of a period of time. Symbols acknowledge this information beneath the surface of a work of literature. This causes the reader to be compelled to read further into a story. John Steinbeck’s “The Chrysanthemums” contains many aspects of symbolism that develop the themes of gender inequality, transformation of character and dissatisfaction with one's life.…

Now the owners of the ranch, the boss and Curley, keep him on as long as he can "swamp" out or clean the bunkhouse. This shows how the working conditions were not up to standard to save money but the migrant workers would still come as it was during the depression after the Wall Street crash. This is so that he will not sue them for health and safety Candy gives Steinbeck an opportunity to discuss social discrimination based on age and handicaps. Candy represents what happens to everyone who gets old in American society: they get “canned”. This shows how in American society only the young and fit had purpose to the rebuilding of the economy.…

Hush is a horror movie about a woman named Madison Young. Maddie is a mute author, who temporarily lost her hearing and her speaking ability when she contracted bacterial meningitis when she was 13. She ended up losing both her hearing and her speaking ability after she had a surgery that went wrong. Due to Maddie’s disabilities, Hush presents an emphasis on isolation and the importance of existential awareness that other horror movies fail to provide. Hush is different because most of the movie there isn't much noise and dialogue, especially when we’re in Maddie’s point of view.…
