Knowledge of the culture, of the traditions, what was deemed as valuable, and how the people lived. Although this story is one of epic nature, the supernatural features still provide insight into the life of those who formulated the story. When looking past the words of Gilgamesh, one can see the people that the story represents and the values they possessed. The character of Gilgamesh embodies the people who created him, and his actions and nature illustrates how they wished to be seen. Gilgamesh is said to be part god, yet remain mortal. He is a hero of legendary status, and has close to superhuman powers. Also, the way the story is told can also denote the culture. For example, the use of repetition represents the oral tradition of storytelling. Furthermore, the catalogue of items, such as weapons, warriors, and ships, depict how impossible travels would be for a normal human being; enforcing the idea that the character was god-like. Art, literature, and music are all obvious to today’s world, yet there is much to be unearthed when diving deeper into each. This unearthing is what helps create the bonding between humanities and biology. Biology requires research to get a better understanding of the world around us.
