Actual evidence needed to support these stories is continually lacking. Although, the factual evidence that has been discovered, and the factual evidence in the stories themselves help to give connections to modern times. Looking at sections from The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis 6-9, many similarities start to appear between the two stories. In The Epic of Gilgamesh it talks about a great flood that came and wiped out human population. In Genesis 6-9 it refers to the same flood. In both accounts very limited people and species are spared. The Mesopotamians also had recollections of a great flood that was brought forth and desecrated the lands. All three of these stories say that the floods were brought forth by angry Gods punishing the people. When three stories of different areas all have the extremely similar accounts of one event in history, something had to have happened. People in modern times today are still proving that this flood wasn 't a myth. Aquatic researchers used mechanic divers to go down to the bottom of the Dead Sea, the supposed area of the flood. They found an ancient shore line with shells carbon dated back to the time of the flood in the stories.
