Epic Heroes: Sundiata As An Epic Hero

Second, Sundiata possesses a level of compassion that is uncommon in epic heroes. He shows the world that although they may not think much of him, he stills has faith in them. For example, when the nine witches of Mali were caught stealing from the garden instead of shunning and condemning them, Sundiata told them that they were always welcomed because it was not only his garden but it was theirs as well (Kunene). Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive. Sundiatas actions were seen as heroic because it is rare to find someone thats shows compassion and understanding without harsh judgement. Sundiatas compassion puts him in a different spotlight than other epic heros. Not only did Sundiata fight
