William Wallace once said “Every man dies, not every man really lives” in Mel Gibson’s movie Braveheart which he starred in, in 1995. William Wallace is a Scottish knight and led the Wars of Scottish Independence. William and his Scottish warriors set out on a quest to seek their independence. In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace shows both epic and Anglo-Saxon hero criteria. Anglo-Saxon heroes are brave, loyal, generous, and show great friendship, while epic hero’s contain the qualities of being strong, ethical, having a quest, and being glorified.
In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace showed his bravery in every battle he fought. William first started fighting as soon as he secretly married Murron so the kingsmen could not sleep …show more content…
William shows generosity and having a quest in the whole movie at each battle showing that he can give up his time and readiness for any necessary need. William’s quest in the movie is to begin a revolt against the Englishmen and to get to the English he has to fight all the battles set forth through his journey for Independence (Braveheart). William shows his generosity for the Scottish warriors to come forward and be the leader of the army. William is also generous enough to show the Scottish new skills and weaponry that helps them win the battle of Stirling. William’s quest began after the assault on his wife and he wanted to get revenge for the crime that had happened that …show more content…
William showed throughout the entire movie all he could contribute to the Independence of the Scottish by being their leader and fighting until the battle was over and the Scottish had won. William’s journey may have been stopped early for he was executed for murder and treason, but through the journey he took he will have made an everlasting story in history. William made a stand for Independence and while doing so, he also showed his Anglo-Saxon and epic hero qualities.
