A modern hero vs an epic hero is different yet very similar in some aspects. Epic heroes are male, from a noble birth, have divine intervention, and does all that is good and true of his time and country. However today society has changed greatly and therefore a modern hero can be anyone. Beowulf is an epic hero; he goes beyond what needs to be done. Many people are heroes in today’s society which is amazing. It shows how far the United States has come as a country in accepting people for the way that they are and for how genres the country has come. It also shows how one person and/or group is not doing it all. Ellen DeGeneres is a great model for today’s modern day hero. She does not fit the epic hero description perfectly which makes her imperfectly perfect. First of all Ellen is a women. Ellen is not of noble birth, however she still managed to become very successful through her career. Ellen is very wealthy with her talk show, Ellen DeGeneres, which she uses towards her advantage with helping so many people out. She puts her money to good use; she helps out so many people, families, organizations, and charities around the world. Ellen is so loving and people know that her kindness is not fake. It is truly amazing what Ellen does and if a person was on her show once she still keeps up to date with them. She keeps in touch by the phone, meeting them in person, or even inviting them back on the show. She gives so much every day, and because of that many people idolize her. She does all that is good and true of her time and country, but also the world. In today’s society and in some people’s views Ellen has no flaws. However Ellen is human and is bound to have some sort of flaw. Some people might think that her flaw is that she is a homosexual
