F or starters environmental racism is hazardous to health for instance data has shown that “Inuit babies and children begin life exposed to an enormous burden of toxic chemicals placing them at increased risk of a range of developmental disorders” (Massay, 1999). This conveys the point that people everywhere regardless of age are physically reaping the effects of toxic chemicals; initial impressions that only those who live near industries would be negatively impacted, but after reviewing the evidence it is clear that contaminants are spreading to physically diminish the health of all people it encounters. To further display the point, oil refineries have been found to emit “benzene, mercury, and other hazardous air pollutants that have been linked to cancer, reproductive problems, and neurological effects” (kay and Kats 2012).It is evident from this that a specific variety of pollutants are causing risks factors to health which otherwise would not be prevalent within population of people.
