The world is being polluted and it is an issue that is becoming one of the most crucial problems to solve, especially in Cambodia, where it is only getting worse everyday. The environment crisis is considered as a top priority issue in this country due to the challenges the country needed to overcome in trying to mitigate the impact it has on its citizens. The three major problems that Cambodia has been facing nowadays are deforestation, lack of waste management and air pollution.

Air pollution is emanated mainly from natural pollution, which is windblown dust, pollen, etc. The other main factor is man-made activities, which are mostly cause by old vehicles, smoke from the burning forests and trash. Air pollution is most noticeable in Siam Reap, where expected surge in tourists when thousands visit the ancient temples. Mounting air pollution has caused acid rain that leads to the erosion of craving; darken the temple wall and eventually leads to decays (Global post, 2015). Without proper sustainable solutions for the rapidly increasing in traffic, the country will end up destroying the very history which they always strive to preserve for the future generation and protect the biggest driver of the Cambodia’s economy. In addition to the increase in tourist, Cambodia is undergoing rapid industrial growth since more developed country strive to take advantage of low labor cost (Black Smith Institute, 2015). Air or gaseous waste from industrial pollution are emission from vents or fugitive source tank vents and leaks that are discharge back into the atmosphere due to lack of available waste treatment or failure to develop a recycling options in order to control discharge. In addition to the factory’s waste output, large population moving into the urban area increase the fossil fuel combustion. Couple with the country’s insufficient air quality monitoring activities mean that human health are being threatened by poor air quality. The health impact of polluted air included aggravated asthma, coughing, painful breathing, chronic bronchitis, decreased lung function, and premature death. The government must push for a standardize process in identifying and monitoring the source of pollutions, establish a guideline on how each industry ought to operate, set and implement standard to safeguard against over pollution and enforce the standard.
