What is pollution? Pollution is undesirable state of the natural environment being contaminated with harmful substances as a consequence of human activities so that the environment becomes harmful or unfit for living things. Various types of pollution exist, including water, air, personal, noise, light, radioactive, thermal, visual and soil. Human beings are involved in different daily activities that contribute to the contamination of the environment leading to the different types of pollution. For example air pollution refers to the contamination of air, which results in health effects in both humans and animals. The purpose of this paper is to make an analysis of personal contribution to pollution and discuss ways through which I can minimize environmental pollution. The first section of the essay will focus on my personal contribution to pollution by analyzing my diary from three days.

First, I can use public transport to reduce the emissions that I would release if I drove (Tomlin, 2014). Reduced vehicles on the roads would also help in reduction of the dust stirred when driving. The car also requires washing due to the dust acquired from the roads by the use of chemicals and detergents that pollute the water and soil. Secondly, I can ensure the use of appliances and light bulbs that are efficient to minimize the emission of substances that are toxic to the environment (Evans & Jacobs, 2010). This also helps to save electricity. Thirdly, I should use recycled paper for school work. Fourthly, use propane instead of charcoal to cook my food on the grill. This would reduce the toxic substances released into the air. Finally, I should ensure that containers with household cleaners are sealed at all times to reduce the emission of volatile compounds into the air, water and soil (Rinkesh, 2009). Most of these cleaners contain volatile organic compounds that pollute the
