Environmental Pollution is affecting the earth in a negative way. Pollution is when the natural environment cannot destroy an element without creating damage to itself. It can range from thousands of years to a couple days; however, it has a negative effect on our water and air. There are many different types of pollution that affect our world. Some types of pollution are air, water, soil, noise, and light. All of these types of pollution are negatively affecting humans, animals, environment, and economies. There are many different things that cause pollution. For years pollution has just been something people have accepted, but now individuals are starting to take action. There are many different types of pollution …show more content…
One of these causes is from industries. Industries have been polluting our environment since the industrial revolution. Coal is form a fossil fuel, and in the 19th century and early 20th century the world has been using it to make machines run at a faster pace. Although our machines are running faster, our world is beginning to suffer from this because it is causing air pollution, and soil/water contamination. Another cause of pollution is from transportation. Since motor vehicles have been created, the pollution around our earth has increased. Fossil fuels cause transportation pollution because the gas that goes into the air, which effects the environment. Around the entire world there are cities that have so much air pollution due to the amount of transportation that is needed. The emissions from motor vehicles are an after thought in today’s society. Next, another cause of pollution is from agricultural activities. Water and soil are contaminated by these activities, and this is from pesticides. Pesticides are made from chemicals, and put on plants to prevent destruction of the crops. Although they are made to help grow food for the population, it is hurting the environment in the long run. Another issue from agricultural activities is that environments and ecosystems are being demolished to make room for more crops. In addition, another cause of pollution is from trading activities. Pollution affects humans because it can cause health issues. Some of these health issues are chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and even brain damage. Growing children can be affected by this a lot, because pollution affects their lungs, and also elderly can be affected a lot because it may complicate medical conditions. Animals are also affected my pollution. One way is because it destroys their habitats. Animals tend to live in areas that have plant growth, and that is being destroyed by pollution. Poisoning is also hurting animals, because when they get into lakes or rivers that have high levels of pollution it can kill them. Then, another way that pollution affects animals is because it can mess up their migration. When areas are polluted and food is no longer available, they may start to migrate. They may begin migrating to areas that do not fit there needs, and many could die. Plants and ecosystems are affected by pollution in a negative way as well. When pollution happens in areas that have plant life it can kill off the plants. As I talked about, this then becomes an issue for animals to find food. It seems to be a chain effect. Ecosystems are damaged all over the earth due to environmental
