However, there are similarities between Enuma Elish and Gen 1 in the help of the winds in creating life “marshalled four winds so that no part of her could escape” (Enuma Elish 251) versus in Gen 1 where “While a wind from God swept over the face of the water.”(Gen 1 4-5) This creation mirrors itself with the Enuma Elish Marduke creates the sky and stars similarly to how God created the sky except here he “and the large temple which he built its image was Esharra. It was a great shrine Esharra, which he had created as the sky.”(Enuma Elish 255) The Enuma Elish hold many similarities in the actual creation, but differs in the back story because humans were a byproduct of the story created from blood and not the center of the story like in Gen 1. Gen 2 differs greatly from Gen …show more content…
Gen 1 came from 1 tribe probably were redacted together, which led to two different creation narratives. As the Enuma Elish shares many parts with Gen 1, which means the Israelite took some their creation from stories they had heard before. Hauer and Young say “The Israelites used the combat creation theme as a poetic metaphor, but not in their creation narratives. Their creation account do, however share common motifs with their cultural matrix.”(Hauer and Young 55) Gen 1 drew from other creation narratives. Gen 2,3 was written with the purpose of creating a split between humans and God whereas Gen 1 is very optimistic story Professor Carol Meyers, “ points out that from the standpoint of the Torah, the Garden of Eden story is an arhcype. It shows people behaving rebellious towards God, a bad human trait turn up all to frequently”(Hauer and Young 56) This story was created to serve the purpose of showing the pitfalls of disobeying God and how it can lead to a downfall. Though all these stories are very different Enuma Elish and Gen 1 drew parts from each other and Gen 2-3 helps push a story narrative of not disobeying

Tragelaphus angasii (Nyala) of the Bovidae family, known and familiar to southern Africa, can be observed and studied for the size of its elaborate, slightly twisted horns. This trait can be seen as an adaptative trait due to the variety of horn lengths and sizes in Bovids, as well as a heritable trait, due to the continual frequency in horns throughout generations, in the species of Nyala. The adaptivity and heritability of this trait can be analyzed through the natural history of the species of Bovids, observing how horns are used in combat as a sign of defense to other males of their same species (Lundrigan 1996). What is currently known on this species is how different lengths of horns are used in different forms of combat (Lundrigan 1996),…

Viewing Earth as a disk, Ymir's eyelashes were set at the edges to keep the giants at the edges. On the shores of the new seas, logs were found by Bor's sons and from there people were made. From the man and woman created from the two logs, all of humanity would be born. The Myths of Ainulindale, the Bible, and Nordic creation share similar elements. An example of these similarities is that, in all of these myths, the world was 'born.'…

Elodea is an aquatic plant originally from Brazil. It is now available in temperate regions of every continent in the world, except Antarctica. It is used in varieties of experiments, but most importantly, photosynthesis. Although there are different species of Elodea plants, the Elodea genus is an excellent plant to use to test photosynthesis because it is a highly oxygenating plant. This means that one can observe the plant and tell that is photosynthesizing because bubbles form when oxygen is produced (Berkeley).…

The Yanomami live in the tropical rain forest of southern Venezuela and northern Brazil in the Amazon River region. They are believed to have migrated from Asia across the Bering Straits, which thousands of years ago was a land bridge that connected Asia to North America. They slowly made their way down North America into South America. The Yanomami are probably some of the first immigrants to South America. It is thought they arrived in South America around 12,000 years ago.…

This is completely different from the Biblical Worldview that states that God created everything. Genesis1:1 “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. This is saying that God himself began his creations with earth, not that the earth was here and God became part of it. God came first and then everything else followed, not God second or that they both occurred at the same time. It is similar because both worldviews believed a god(s) are behind all creation and destruction.…

Although Jeremy and Katherine’s storyline was delightful, Elissa’s was enthralling. I found myself completely sucked in once I got the hang of the story switch. I couldn’t help but love her passion for life, no matter how much her father tried to snuff it out. With her love of theater and acting being her one main outlet, she begins to blossom even more when she discovers her gift for painting the world around her. The only thing that diminishes her joy in these arts is the fact that once she is done with school for the year, she will be forced into an arranged marriage with a cruel and malicious man.…

Modern scientific thought includes many theories pertaining to the origins of the world, especially the evolution of man. The Old Testament gives correct instruction and starts with the wonder of God’s work as it directly relates to people. First, God made our world (Genesis 1:1-25), next he created us (Genesis 1:26-27). There is no better explanation of what we are and that we are beholden to our Creator.…

I wouldn’t say this is a speech, but more of a reflection on my four years of high school. When I was told that this assignment was meant to give advice to the low classmen and show my fellow teachers how I have enbody the EPAA Vision through accomplishments and mistakes; well let me tell you that I had three mental breakdowns, and slept on it for a couple day until I came up with something to write. In my four years of high school I have experienced a significant amount of bad things and a few good things. I would list more bad things then good if I was asked the question, How has high school shaped me and what advice would I give? For example, I have been a runaway, almost dropped out and lived in a group home for a while.…

The central geographic location of Jerusalem made it a melting pot primed for foreign cultural influences. Throughout history, the Jewish community was always positioned between powerful nations, which were often waging war against one another. Thus, it is miraculous that Judaism has continued to endure for eons without being assimilated into their surrounding much larger cultures. In fact, it is very likely that Judaism and perhaps monotheism as a whole would have become obsolete if not for the “Babylon’s choice to exile all the Jewish aristocrats and hierarchs to the same location” (PPT Day 8, Slide 2). However, while Judaism has persisted, it was profoundly influenced by the cultures of Judea’s powerful neighbors.…

Genesis 2 and 3 might seem that it focuses on the creation of the world as we know. However, if we look beyond this storyline, we can see that Genesis 2 and 3 is actually about how God tests Mankind. The testing is not to see Mankind fail, but rather, how Mankind can improve. Throughout the entirety of Genesis 2 and 3, we see that The Garden of Eden was made by God that one may test Mankind. We can see this through the order of creation, how Mankind gets tested, and from how the punishments are dealt .…
