The aim of this film study is to closely analyse the film Jobs from a business perspective. The analysis below will take a close look at the entrepreneurial success and career choices of Steve Jobs. The various types of conflict will be evaluated along with the impact these types of conflict have on Apple. Professionalism and ethics will also be taken into account upon analysis of the film, which recounts the life story of one of the world’s most iconic innovators.

ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS AND CAREER CHOICE
Steve Jobs showed entrepreneurial success because he never settled and he never gave up – he wasn’t scared to fail. This also impacted his career choice when, after being fired from Apple, he didn’t know what to do, but eventually figured out a suitable option for him. Steve started the company “NEXT” – a software company which he later sold to Apple for $400 million.
Steve demonstrated other entrepreneurial success factors such as he was not afraid to venture into something new and could always bounce back, even after being fired from his own company. This shows us that Steve had self-confidence by starting the animation company “PIXAR”, which Disney bought in 2006. PIXAR taught Steve how to work with people in a more friendly and efficient way.
He was also very innovative, a risk taker and multi skilled. Steve may not have had the technical skills to put together the first computer himself, but he had the vision and ability to take the risk of having the first computer manufactured and sold to the public. There are two main types of conflict that are present in this film, namely functional conflict and dysfunctional conflict. According to Meyer and Strydom (46:2016), functional conflict can be defined as situations where the different parties deal with the conflict in a manner that is healthy and where they respect each other’s opinions and dysfunctional conflict can be defined as the result of people’s misperceptions, ambitions, egos and unwillingness to compromise that results in a decline in productivity
