In the Victorian Era their entertainment was different for kids, women and men. Only some sports were enjoyed by men like drinking, gambling, and billiards. There were men who would play card games to the extent of losing all their money. Men also played outdoor sports like shooting, cricket, and fishing.
In 1871 the first ever football association was played. After that many football clubs started to pop up. Although they were primarily organized by churches to encourage people to attend church, some were set up by employers with the intention of bringing in good players to win more games. The game was only created to keep people healthy. People began to take the sport serious in 1891 where they started making penalty rules. It was in 1880
