Entertainment Education Theory, is a strategy when the media message is purposely designed and implemented to entertain and educate to increase the audiences knowledge about an educational issue, shift social norms, create positive attitudes, and to change the behavior of individuals and communities. Another way to explain the entertainment education theory is that it contains content that is mostly educational but has incidental entertainment value, and content that is mostly entertaining but contains educational value. Topics that tend to use “edutainment” are teen pregnancy, immunization, substance abuse, etc. This theory can be used for public communication campaigns that want to see both, education and entertainment in their campaign. Entertaining people is an easy way to add learning, and it also gets more peoples attention.
Participatory Theory is the theory that practices communication to involve people in the decision-making of the development process. There are four different levels of participation and communication in which the audience participates in which are: passive participation, participation by consultation, participation by collaboration and empowerment participation. Social Mobilization Theory is a process that involves and motivates a wide range of partners and allies at national and local levels to raise awareness of and demand for a particular development objective through conversation.
