Entering Into Medical School

Improved Essays
I have chose “undecided” as my major for a reason. To enter into Medical school I have to major in something before. My passion is medicine; but that does not mean I am not interesting in anything else. Before deciding I wanted to be a doctor, I was super confused about what major I would study. The problem is that everything interests me. I see the importance in everything I learn. However, I have to choose something that will incorporate into my medicine life, but also not to make myself locked in one world. My goal is to be well surrounded, and I think that decision will not be best succeeded if not experienced and chosen inside college. However, Social Studies or Business are academic topics that have an important role on people's routine.

During nursing school, pediatrics and med-surg were my two of my most favorite classes. Not only was I interested in the material that was being taught, I was able to store that information in my long term memory. Being able to understand the process and connect the dots helped me to do well in both of those classes. I used that knowledge during my pediatric rotations at Cook Children’s and was able to determine why the patients experienced certain symptoms and what methods of treatment they need.…

I have opted to enter college “undecided”. I have done so in order to prevent myself from switching majors multiple times once enrolled as so many others have been known to do. Rather, I plan to complete my prerequisite courses during my freshman and into my sophomore year. Then, once I’ve had the opportunity to speak with others in the career trajectories of my interests (anatomy/physiology, anthropology, medical technology), I’ll make a decision on the additional courses I will need to take toward my decided major. Once I have a degree in my desired field, I hope to get a job directly out of college in order to begin paying off the student loans that I accumulate.…

For absolutely no reason, other than I thought it might interest me, I took human anatomy and physiology and that has helped give me an edge in different scenarios. From human anatomy and physiology I learned the basic human structure with bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscles as well as some of the basic systems for the human body; such as the cardiovascular, urinary, and digestive tract. This has benefitted me quite a bit since that class two years ago. One instance was when we learned about the digestive tract and how that functions in relation to different foods. I began to notice my sister getting sick frequently and did a little digging into her food history and when approximately she began to feel queasy.…

The test, which was known to its past and future victims as the Med Cats, was a standardized test that theoretically measured aptitude for the study of Medicine.…

I was also able to decipher which majors I would best fit my skills and personality. This led me to narrow down my choice of majors to accounting and finance. I choose finance because it provides me with the ability to use my skills in analysis and technology. Some of the careers associated with the finance major also allow me to travel, which is also something I am interested in. Since I am not interested in being at a job where I perform the same tasks every day, accounting was not the right major for me.…
