Reflection Paper In English

Register to read the introduction… One of the first concepts I gained from this class was the idea of the rhetorical triangle. The rhetorical triangle consists of three points, much like the geometric triangle. The points of the triangle include audience, speaker, and text which were surrounded by the hypothetical circle of context. In high school we just barely scraped the surface of each of these topics but in English 101 we actually learned how to find each of these in text and how to effectively compose about them. In the entering the conversation essay, I lost focus on the fact that we were not writing the paper to our instructor but to people who cared about the conversation of our paper or have already entered the same conversation. Knowing who your audience is was very important when writing papers, because without the audience you really do not have any communication. For example, for this critical rationale essay I know that my audience is the professor of my English 101 class. Determining the text of my essay and essays we have read in class was the easiest component of the rhetorical triangle; because all I had to do was interpret what the rhetor wanted the genre of the paper to be and what their thesis was. My only strategy of the reading process was to read actively and with direct attention on the literature. Although, after learning through multiple links and lessons on reading with a plan, I was able to create a system of reading strategies that worked for me personally.     She is a part of the discussion of rhetorical situations, and the article written by Haas and Flower “Rhetorical Reading Strategies and the Construction of Meaning.” Kantz uses rhetorical situations in her article to explain that it is a helpful tool to read sources and comprise a paper.
