1. What attracted you to become a student at UMUC? There are two reasons, the first is that all of my classes transferred from Prince George’s Community College and the second is that the cost is lower than UM. I also have received several scholarships such as the President’s scholarship, the transfer scholarship and in the fall of 2014 a scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa so my out of pocket costs for education when I have completed my Bachelor degree will be roughly $10,000 which is pretty good for seven years of academic study.

Yes, definitely because most jobs require good communication skills, problem solving, critically analyzing and solving problems and these are things that English majors learn throughout their academic studies.

This is difficult to answer, because I plan to get into some sort of writing position, but it will depend where I end up as to whether there are opportunities for promotion and advancement.

Likewise, I was restricted to taking African American studies rather than other options. While I understand the object of the English major is make students more culturally aware of society, I feel academically there is too much African American studies forced upon us; we get these studies in public schools as children and then have to study it again through History as well as English. There are so many other examples of discrimination and social issues now that are more current.
