The outcome of the lesson is students will be able to determine the author’s point of view by identify the opinion statements or persuasive language orally or in the text. The reason I am teaching this outcome is the age appropriate based on common core standards. Also, it is continuing of what students has been taught on the day before I teacher so it is connected knowledge for the whole unit. Help students to see author’s point of view can help them understand different perspectives of articles enrich their language ability in the long term. I used whole class close reading instruction because it is part of Wonder program requirement, and students familiar with reading with whole class. During the group practice, I invited students to answer the respond to reading question at the end of the article. One of questions that I required students to answer is How can you tell that “Auto Advance” and “The Rail way” are persuasive articles? Identity opinion statements and persuasive language?” This type of question provided clear guidance to help students clarify their thoughts processes and practice find evidence to show author’s point of view. Ability to identify opinion statement or persuasive language is one of key elements in English Language Art. When I walk around, I observed students were actively discuss with their partner about this question. Later, I observe different group of students’ writing answer of the question. Most students were able to answer the question by pointed out the how authors’ opinion statement or persuasive language make them believe the future transportation is better than model transportation. For example one students wrote: one bad thing is polution, it (article) said it not good for us to live in the area. The need of taking bus to home. Based on the student writing, it clearly show how she understand author’s point of view by list the pollution is bad for the environment as opinion statement, and she used “need” as persuasive language. During the middle of the lesson, the sound bar stopped during the lesson. While teacher tried fix the technology problem, she got class in control by invite students into group discussion of connected question from the reading at certain chapter. The ability to make adjustment of the lesson is one of class management skill to create learning environment to help students to learn in the classroom. By give students question to discuss when unexpected situation happened, the teacher showed her understanding of her students’ learning habit in the classroom, and how organized class enforce students learning. Besides, by the time the teacher fixed the sound bar, she was able to walk around, and selectively listen to students’ discussion was a way to keep class in order without interrupt by unexpected situation. By invite students discuss related question from the article, it keep students on focus on the lesson instead unexpected problem that teacher facing. It shows her ability to adapted lesson according to the situation. The teacher’s guidance is important to build learning environment to students, and prepare students become better learners in the future.     Probably the two biggest things I’ve learned from taking English 1010 is summarization and citation. At the beginning of the class, I struggled with not trying to make my summaries sound like lists. As I kept practicing, I learned how to reflect my writing style and voice into my summaries, while still being able to effectively get the point of the original source across.
