Peer review sessions in class helped me examine different literary devices such as purpose, word choice, tone, audience, as well as thesis statements and conclusions so I could my classmates the best possible feedback on their drafts. Looking at my most recent couple peer reviews from November 18th to our final project, and comparing each to a peer review submitted back in September, I’ve noticed how I could develop a greater understanding of these literary devices, allowing me to give more detailed feedback over time. For example, on September 30th I told Jake, “I like how you compared entering the stadium to gladiators preparing for battle.” While on November 18 I told Megan, “Your example use of the Prozac medication is good, but try to use this throughout the paper to provide a clear understanding of the topic to your reader.” Telling Jake I liked his comparison, leaving without advice, however with Megan I followed up my comment with advice to aid her paper. Aside from that example, Peer Review has helped me as a student not only by helping me gain a well rounded comprehension on these literary devices, but as a writer on the other end by the information I get back from my classmates about my
