English Class Reflective Essay

Coming back to school after not being in school for so many years was a challenge. I think it was important for me to take this class to brush up on my grammar and writing skills. One of the course objectives was to apply critical reading and thinking skills to the writing process. I think that this was one of the more important learning objectives throughout this course for many reasons. It was important in my life academically and professionally. Not taking an English class for many years made me forget how important it is to have the skill to apply what was read and organize it into a complete and well thought out essay in class or communication and collaboration with other employees. It is important to be able to pick out flaws in these writing situations and be able to improve from these mistakes that are made. Being able to point these out was important for my writing process because it made me more aware of what I was putting. Being able to use these objectives and not only use them in this class but take them with me to my job has been beneficial to me.

This semester I have received a lot of good feedback that has helped me work on my writing process, skills, and attitude towards writing. This class has made me more open and more prone to writing because of all the skills I have learned. I do not think that I had bad writing skills to start with I think that they were definitely improved throughout. I use to just want to get a paper done and not take the time to really think about what I was putting, but after taking this class I felt more relaxed when writing and not just another paper to write.
