English 394: Business Analysis

My expectations for English 394, Business Writing, differ from previous summer classes I have taken. Personally, I have never taken a full online class, so I am a bit uncertain on the new challenges this will bring. Especially, when it comes to communicating with the instructor can be limited as opposed to taking a regular class. However, the mandatory conference calls and weekly updates should extensively help with what is to be expected in throughout the course.

I am also a bit skeptical on the final project assignment being dependent upon the use of WordPress. I haven’t heard all that much about WordPress and have never actually used the software myself. Therefore, learning a new website and getting used to its functionalities can be difficult at first. Jack describes a few of the office outings The Firm would participate in, such as an annual golf outing hosted by The Bear. He also describes how his wife was introduced to him by a coworker, and tells of taking her to the office Christmas party. These stories from Jack describe the aspects of an office that can’t be taught in a classroom or textbook. To my esteemed English teacher, By writing you this letter, I hope to demonstrate my growth throughout the year and my final mastery of the course’s content. During the revision of the synthesis, I mostly adjusted the shape of the piece; grammar and syntax needed to be fixed in many passages in order to provide a clearer explanation of my ideas. Nevertheless, the rhetorical analysis needed further labor on the content; precisely, the explanation of the author’s use of a certain rhetorical device to achieve his purpose needed to be more detailed. I wrote the both pieces keeping in mind that my audience would be extremely educated upon English language and composition.…

Rhetoric is the first and foremost lesson all English 102 students must walk away with from this course with a full understanding of. Prior to this course I had a good understanding of rhetoric, but this course refreshed my memory and helped further direct me towards a better writing style due to better understanding. The discussion board "Understanding Rhetoric" helped navigate the students and help discuss with our peers on the topic. This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
