Working in a group on evaluation memo and mini-newsletter was somewhat challenging, because, I’ve never met the people, I had to work with, in person. After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

I took calculus AB my senior year of high school, so I had all of the skills I needed prior to entering this class. I knew the Limit, Derivative, and Anti-Derivative topics, and in depth.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

In most cases, when writing these kind of reports, a great amount of math and science is required to convey your thoughts and ideas. Since my passion has always leaned towards the subjects of math and science, I have always felt more confident and successful when writing reports. Even though I occasionally find it difficult to put my thoughts on paper, the desire to communicate my findings through math and science inspires me to learn how to write clearly and properly so that my reports can be of higher quality. I recall a time where I had to write a major technical report. One objective of this technical report was to provide pipe specifications, such as a potential steel grade, diameter and wall thickness of the pipe, that would result in the creation of an effective steel pipeline structure.…

Retrospective Essay The goal of this course was to teach us the proper way to write, to help us communicate more efficiently in the business world, and to teach how to join the “never-ending conversation”. This class has already accomplished that and much more. Not only have we covered almost all of the course goals, excluding synthesis which will be covered soon; we have been challenged to think about more advanced topics, to stay current in the world, and to discern information for ourselves, not to instantly believe what others say. While in class learning the teacher has kept the course away from the traditional lecture structure and has engaged with the class leading conversations and not preaching to the class. Many of our conversations were about nonsense topics seemingly unrelated to anything, they still engaged us with one another and we still formed our own opinions our presented them.…
